Last Days

Wednesday, July 19th is the big “cross over” day and the water is like glass – yay! We got up early, batten down the hatches and all that rot, put the cover on the dingy, adjusted the lines for a quick get away, and off we went. The rain was all around us and it started to pour over Bimini Big Game Marina when we were about 10 minutes away and out into the Bimini Bay. Talk about good timing. I wanted to say it out loud but forced myself to be quite and keep it inside – the water is great, not even a 6 inch ripple, the sun is shining and this is perfect! Typically, when I say something like that, all hell breaks loose and we blow an engine, break a shaft or get hit by lightning, but the goD’s were with us and our cross over couldn’t have been more perfect. Before we knew it, Miami was in sight, we stopped off to fill up at the fuel pump and put Salty Old Dog back in it’s slip without a blink of an eye or major mishap. We were out of Bimini and back in Miami within three hours! After we were all unpacked and sitting on the aft deck with a cocktail, Barry said “it feels like we never left”… it did feel that way so I’ll have to post this story and pictures so we can go back and look at what we did and where we were. We plan on going back within the next three months, just to get away for a week and to get our full use out of that 90 day Bahamian cruising permit that cost us $300.00! We’ll go to Chub Island, close to Nassau next time to see what mischief Salty and Salty Old Dog can get into.
